Tracking downtime and slowbacks: the old, the new and the not ugly
Rick Smith from International Paper (IP) initially presented a plan for downtime tracking at the 2015 PI World. Today's presentation follows the journey from prototype to initial deployment, testing, reimagining, and to production.
Competing business priorities and an incumbent application delayed serious work until 2018. Extra functionality added complexity which made certification more difficult, extending through 2020.
IP reimagined the PI System Active Framework (AF) solution by leveraging tools and techniques developed during other enterprise AF projects. Leveraging the latest techniques (e.g. AF arrays), visualizing state changes in PI Vision and using the PI Integrator for Business Analytics to replace the MS Excel reporting, and created a solution that went from old to reimagined to production in just two months. This presentation will share IP's journey.
