Process Analytical Technology (PAT) is a mechanism to design, analyze, and control pharmaceutical manufacturing processes through the measurement of critical process parameter. Common technologies are Raman and FT-IR spectroscopy, which acquire time based 2 dimensional spectra that are stored as flat files or in SQL databases. At Cognizant life science manufacturing we created a commercial solution to collect, analyze and display PAT spectra within the PI System. The solution is currently being deployed at a major pharmaceutical company. To achieve this, we extended the PI System to:
Store multi-dimensional time series
Analyze PAT in AF System Explorer or in a PI Vision symbol
Display PAT spectra next to traditional process data in PI Vision
Allow batch relative displays of PAT data
The goal is to make PAT information accessible to researcher and production operator, accelerate development and improve product quality.
