Real-time quality statistical control in PI AF applied in reducing Emergency Shutdown events in offshore O&G - Petrobras
Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD) are layers of protection for industrial plants whose objective is to guarantee a shutdown of systems and equipment if the limits for safe operation are overpassed. In addition to the total stoppage of oil and gas production, the occurrence of Emergency Shutdown on offshore production platforms involves stopping services, directing the workforce do safe areas and adopting other countermeasures in order to limit risks and avoid undesirable consequences.
In this regard, the following question was made: How to provide the integration between the creation of a consistent history of failures, the response to the needs listed by the offshore operational work fronts, and the improvement of monitoring techniques used by the onshore operational support staff?
At that moment we identified that we had a powerful tool in our hands that could help us to identify or predict such disturbs: the RTSQC - Real Time Statistical Quality Control.
