Outotec provides leading technologies and services for the sustainable use of Earth’s natural resources. Outotec has developed many breakthrough technologies over the decades for their customers in metals and mining industry. PI System is the core of Outotec's Remote Services. Production sites all over the world are sending data to the global data archive where it is stored, structured and analyzed and from where it can be provided for other systems when necessary. Data is presented for different stakeholders via web based Remote Service Portal that is developed in Outotec. With Remote Services Outotec is aiming for much faster problem solving process compared to the traditional service offering. It is possible to utilize Outotec experts in their home offices to improve and optimize the customers’ production processes. The presentation is focusing on Outotec’s Remote Service and PI System’s role in it.

Mikko Paakkolanvaara
For 14 years Mikko has worked in instrumentation and automation delivery projects - 8 years as an instrumentation engineer for Pöyry in pulp and paper industry and after that 6 years as an instrumentation chief engineer for Outotec in metals and mining industry. During this time, he has also spent about 3 years altogether on sites around the world doing commissioning and start up services.
For the last 1.5 years he has worked as a Manufacturing Information Systems Specialist in a team developing Outotec's Remote Service concept. His responsibility in Outotec is the owner of Outotec's global PI System and the Remote Service Portal.
