With supporting the sustainability agenda in PETRONAS, this was the driving factor behind our project. To optimize energy consumption, previously engineers rely on Excel as a tool to find the best operating regime. Unfortunately, Excel cannot run automatically and has limited optimization function. Furthermore, human intervention is needed to execute the outcome. An ideal solution is a software that has thermodynamics properties which runs automatically using sophisticated optimization algorithm while considering real time plant data. To further minimize human intervention, a closed loop also be installed to execute optimization outcome through AVEVA closed loop constraints control. AVEVA has provided the closed loop utility optimization solution which resulted in Fuel reduction over 0.6% by maximizing cogeneration efficiency (more effective load allocation), CO2 reduction of over 5.5K tons per year and increase in engineers and operators productivity.
