NIST / NCCoE Cybersecurity Portfolio: PI System in the Situational Awareness Use Case

NCCoE Senior Security Engineer Jim McCarthy will host a NIST NCCoE Workshop to discuss the many challenges facing the energy sector today. Topics will include overviews of the various aspects of the NIST Cybersecurity Portfolio, including the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), worked example solutions Situational Awareness and Identity and Access Management (IdAM) for the energy sector, and other projects being undertaken to secure Industrial Control Systems (ICS).

Jim McCarthy, Senior Security Engineer Jim McCarthy is with the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He currently serves as the Federal lead for Energy Sector projects. Jim joined the NCCoE after serving at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He also worked in various cybersecurity roles at the U.S. Department of Transportation. In his previous positions, he was responsible for the management and operation of the Cybersecurity incident response teams for these agencies. He also performed security assessments on components of the nation’s critical infrastructure systems.
