Leveraging an Enterprise Agreement to enable Enterprise-Wide Manufacturing Visibility
Georgia Pacific (GP) identified that the PI System was to be a strategic platform and critical component of our Transformation across the corporation. GP set out to identify key resources who would support the development of standard KPIs across all levels of the organization for major assets. GP worked directly with an engineering contractor to develop the KPIs, decided on the engineering calculations behind the KPIs, and how those KPIs would be combined with Asset Framework templates to roll up PI Vision dashboards.
While all sites are making paper and/or cellulose, they do it in very different ways. This means there are many inconsistencies across the mills. The dashboards utilize PI Vision to create a standard look across the fleet so that corporate subject matter experts do not need to have specific site knowledge to identify and debug the problems that may surface. The SMEs quickly recommend solutions to the mill personnel for those problems.
This presentation will cover the process of the creation, configuration and visualization of the mill KPIs, along with the way the tool help SMEs interact with the different sites at GP.

Karl Lindgren
Karl Lindgren is an IT Manager for Georgia Pacific, responsible for data historian systems across the fleet of large mills and other manufacturing sites. He received Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, in 2001.
Professionally, Karl has worked in numerous industries and technical capacities. He began his career in the food and beverage industry providing custom application development, Oracle EBS implementations, production line control system, traceability solutions, and MES installations. He later moved into the Military/Defense industry in support of global procurement and supply chain systems, before moving into Manufacturing IT at Georgia Pacific.
At Georgia Pacific, Karl and his team have worked to champion the growth and adoption of PI across the fleet of mills, growing the footprint from roughly 500K tags across 20 autonomous sites, to a multi-million tag centrally managed Enterprise Agreement ecosystem covering +80 manufacturing facilities - all within 3 years.

Justin V. Conroy is a Program Manager for Radix Engineering and Software and is currently responsible for all Koch Industries accounts and contracts the company holds in the United States. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, Cullen College of Engineering, in 2011.
Justin started off his career at Siemens Energy, Inc. working as everything from a Process Safety Engineer to a Product Manager. Since Justin moved to Radix Engineering and Software, he has participated in all manner of projects in multiple industries (Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Metals & Mining, and Pulp & Paper) ranging in scope from topics such as engineering troubleshooting, computation fluid dynamics, custom software development, advanced process control, operational intelligence platform implementation, data analytics, and machine learning application development projects.
