International Paper has implemented AVEVA APC on Black Liquor Recovery Boilers as a part of our energy and carbon reduction initiatives. Typical paybacks have been one to two years by reducing steam generated by power boilers. Reductions in fossil fuel usage has also decreased carbon emissions. These systems have been in operation for over 15 years and supported by AVEVA APC under a corporate maintenance agreement. This support arrangement has contributed to sustainment of the energy improvements and continuous improvement of these systems. This presentation will discuss:
A general methodology for determining energy efficiency improvement potential for Black Liquor Recovery Boilers
Metrics for benchmarking and monitoring the systems
Developing and executing implementation projects
Sustainment and continuous improvement considerations
