Covestro is improving all aspects globally by embracing digital technologies. In Digital Operations the focus is improving production and maintenance by better utilizing data. The enterprise adoption of the PI System has been catalyst for success Covestro now has a digital monitoring platform and data science at scale. At-a-glance visualization helps SME efficiently understand the health of assets. This improvement will increase OEE by reducing unplanned outages. Working with technology partners, Covestro has created a global asset hierarchy within a matter of months. This hierarchy is being deployed and harmonized across a variety of systems (PI Asset Framework and SAP). Any change that occurs in SAP PM is brought into PI AF. As a result, engineers and data scientists collaborate on the same data and are able to look at work orders, and engineering designs alongside the real-time data from PI, leading to more insights and a step-change in improved production and maintenance efficiency

Jane Arnold is an Executive Vice President and the Head of Global Process Control Technology at Covestro since 2017. Arnold joined the Bayer group in 2005 at the Baytown, Texas production site. She has a degree in Mathematics and 30 years of experience in Process Control Technology. Her responsibilities include all systems, instrumentation and electrical power that run Covestro production facilities at over 30 sites globally. Her major focus is to improve Digitalization in Manufacturing with a goal of developing a cognitive digital plant.
