The desire to move the industry to implement the digital oil field has never been greater and new technologies are being announced daily. From edge computing devices to artificial intelligence and machine learning, the amount of data and analysis capabilities for the operator continues to grow. But deploying a solution to take advantage of this digital data can come with an abundance of technical and logistical challenges.
This presentation will focus specifically on how managing the movement and volume of data in smart and efficient ways, coupled with the right technology choices, can help create a successful implementation. It will provide some insight on how one particular solution overcame the logistical and technical challenges in integrating multiple systems not originally designed to work together, to ultimately provide a near real-time analysis and modeling solution on new and long-standing distributed temperature sensing (DTS) installations.

Andy Nelson is a senior software engineer with Tendeka and is responsible for overseeing the design and development of one of the premier DTS storage, analysis and modeling software applications in the oil and gas industry.
Born and raised in England, he studied Electronics and Electrical Engineering before emigrating to California’s Silicon Valley where he started his career as a published technology writer for InfoWorld magazine. For the past 26 years he has been working in software engineering and integration.
Andy held prior posts at TellX, a company that specialized in managing digital film assets to create interactive special affects for the movie industry; MITEM Corporation, who provide legacy integration to government and healthcare; and iManage, an industry leader in content management solutions for the fortune 500.
