Big data management strategy for continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing (Rutgers)
A data management strategy based on S88 has been developed and demonstrated for a continuous solid dose pharmaceutical manufacturing facility housed at Rutgers University. This full scale advanced manufacturing implementation allows for data from the plant to be collected through a PI Systemi server and linked with lab QC data for remote data visualization and analysis by any network user.
Within the manufacturing plant, data is generated by unit operation equipment and process analytical technology (PAT). A distributed process control system (e.g. DeltaV (Emerson)) collects the data from equipment and PAT data management tools (e.g. synTQ (Optimal)). PAT data management collect data from inline/online measurement systems. A recipe for the entire whole continuous process is implemented in DeltaV. Data in DeltaV is collected according to the recipe and sent to the PI System.
